You Guys, Peter Dinklage Might Be Joining ‘Avengers: Infinity War’
In a possible effort to combine the two biggest franchise audiences out there, none other than Peter Dinklage might be joining the cast of Avengers: Infinity War.
Variety has learned from some reliable sources that Dinklage, whom you most likely recognize as children’s book author Miles Finch from Elf, or maybe from that tiny HBO show Game of Thrones, is “in early talks for a key role” in Infinity War (Is it M.O.D.O.K.?). Marvel wouldn’t comment when Variety asked, which could mean anything, but there’s a pretty high possibility that this is true. Game of Thrones is wrapping for good after this next season, so Dinklage will have to retire fan-favorite character Tyrion soon and find himself another franchise to join.
Tyrion is by far one of the best characters of the show (much like M.O.D.O.K. is in the Marvel comics), and Dinklage’s skill as an actor is unmatchable (much like M.O.D.O.K.’s intelligence) so it’s not a stretch to imagine him hopping from Westeros into the Marvel Universe. (M.O.D.O.K. doesn’t appear in the Infinity War series, but, to be fair, Adam Warlock does, and he probably won’t be in the movie since he doesn’t exist in the MCU. Hey, maybe Dinklage is Adam Warlock! But that’s even more unlikely.) There are a lot of characters (M.O.D.O.K.) Dinklage could play, but his role (M.O.) has so far (D.O.K.) remained unannounced for now. And he’s been in a superhero movie before: he was Boliver Trask in X-Men: Days of Future Past, but since we all know the trouble with combining those two franchises, he probably won’t be reprising that character.
If this ends up being true, he’s one of the few new additions to the movie as most of the cast is made up of returning characters — a lot of returning characters. Avengers: Infinity War is scheduled to officially begin production this summer, and will hit theaters May 4, 2018.
