Officers Shocked What They Found in East Texas Drug Bust

The Rusk County Sheriff’s Office in the East Texas town of Kilgore, Texas got more than they bargained for when they carried out an investigation into a resident’s home from a Crime Stoppers tip at 509 Leach Street for evidence of illegal drug distribution.

Not only did they recover a large amount of drugs but illegal ownership of a reptilian type of alligator with their search warrant

44-year-old James Best was taken into custody on four felony charges related to controlled substances that included one-quarter pound of marijuana, PCP angel dust, THC vape cartridges, guns, and cash, according to a report from the Rusk County Facebook page.

Meanwhile, The Texas Game Wardens along with the City of Kilgore Animal Control has turned over the exotic alligator to a Wildlife Rescue Center in Dallas. The alligator is believed to be a Caiman, a species related to a gator found in South and Central America. The alligator was believed to be approximately 3 feet-long.

Bond has been set for Best at $118,500.
