Actor Johnny Depp's current legal battle with UK tabloid newspaper The Sun has resulted in the unearthing of testimonies from his messy 2016 divorce from actress Amber Heard, and they are intense.

The 471-page transcript of the depositions, obtained by The Hollywood Reporter, reveals some pretty graphic and disturbing details of each of the stars' statements about their tumultuous relationship. Both stars have accused each other of abuse in the past, and the newly public legal docs allow us to read their accounts in their own words.

Heard stated in an August 2016 deposition that "Johnny and I refer to his other personality, the part of him that is present when he beats me up – we call that the monster and have called [that] the monster for many years." Heard adds, “I was petrified of the monster."

Yikes.

Heard's 2016 deposition includes a graphic retelling of a May 2016 incident in which she claimed her now ex-husband threw her phone at her "as hard as he could," hitting her in the face. That's not all, either. Heard also said Depp grabbed her by the hair as she screamed, and broke glass items in the home.

Depp denied any abuse and responded in his deposition that he was escorted by two security guards that day. While he admited to tossing the cell phone, he claimed it did not hit Heard. Depp also claimed his now ex-wife punched him in the face twice, a month before the above 2016 incident, after he was late for her birthday dinner.

The legal transcripts also include interviews with the LAPD officers who responded to the 911 call made after the May 2016 incident. One of the officers stated Heard was crying but wouldn't give her name or a statement. The officer also claimed to not see any marks, bruises or swelling on Heard, and no signs of broken glass.

Both stars signed a nondisclosure agreement as part of their divorce settlement, vowing not to discuss their marriage or make derogatory statements about each other publicly. That didn't stop Depp from bringing up Heard and denying her abuse claims yet again in an October 2018 GQ interview.

Depp is currently suing The Sun for defamation after the paper printed the headline "How can J.K. Rowling be ‘genuinely happy’ casting wife-beater Johnny Depp in the new Fantastic Beasts film?" This suit is why the divorce depositions are being looked at again, and could also result in Heard being asked to testify.
