Last Summer, Longview Was Left With Just One Movie Theater In Town, But Now They Are Getting Something Better.

Back in June 2023, the shocking news came out that Regal Theatres, which operated the Hollywood Theaters location at 3070 N. Eastman Road, would be closing down germanely and the space has sat dormant for some months now.

Thankfully, a Texas based company has decided that they want to do something with the theater space and they are moving in to take over the location.

The company is now in its 5th generation of family ownership and has several theatres all across Texas including 2 "City Lights" theatres in Mt. Pleasant and Palestine and its "Film Alley" entertainment centers in Georgetown, Weatherford, Bastrop and Terrell.

The Longview "Film Alley" will feature movies, bowling, an arcade and a scratch kitchen.

According to The Longview News-Journal, Schulman Theatres received initial permission from the city's Planning and Zoning Commission for a permit necessary to allow for an "indoor amusement" business with a restaurant that serves mixed beverages.

The building will be renovated to include eight theaters, axe throwing, bowling and an arcade along with the restaurant making it the 5th Film Alley location in Texas. The request for the specific use permit must still be considered by the Longview City Council but they hope to be ready to open in about 6 months.

Exciting news for Longview!
