8 Things To Do Around East Texas This Weekend – March 14

(East Texas) Apparently, all it takes is about an inch of rain to bring some of my grass out of its dormant state. Thanks to the rain we received over the weekend, I noticed that my St. Augustine grass is beginning to come to life sooner than normal. Which means I'll be mowing my yard once again.

Taking a look around, that seems to be the case for many flowers, trees, and bushes; they're all in bloom. Azaleas are blooming. The Dogwood trees have their vibrant blooms. In less than 10 days, more blooms will be visible during the annual Azalea and Spring Flower Trail event in Tyler and along the Dogwood Trails in Palestine.

Both of these multi-week events will bring thousands of visitors to East Texas to enjoy what East Texans get to enjoy every day of the year.

While we wait for the beginning of those festivals, we've gotta get through St. Patrick's Day! Lots of green things are happening; let's check out some of those things that are going on in the Piney Woods this weekend.

Downtown Longview St. Paddy's Pub Crawl

Explore downtown Longview at your own pace and visit the hot spots to earn raffle entries to win some fantastic prizes. There is a registration fee, and it will benefit the Greater Longview United Way. It's more than a pub crawl. There are coffee joints, food locations, entertainment, and more participating this year.

Lone Star Showdown: Texas Independence Day Fireworks - Rescheduled date

The Lake Palestine Marina is hosting a fireworks show to celebrate Texas Independence Day (March 2). This is a ticketed event. This event is rescheduled for March 13 due to a rain event last weekend.

2026 Final Showdown Auto Show - rescheduled date

This car show will be held at Millennium Plaza and will feature cars from the 60s to the present. Not only cars, but motorcycles, imports, 4x4s, trucks, lowriders, and more. There is a registration fee to participate, but free to attend.

It is the final Winter Market of the season in Winnsboro! Your favorite farmers' market vendors will be on site with fresh produce, baked goods, and homemade items.

It's a free event in Lindale on Saturday. The Cars and Coffee event is perfect for all car lovers. There will also be a vendor market with lots of coffee, lunch, and desserts served in the HUB Coffee Shop.

2026 Swing Into Spring
