(Mix 93-1) While many Texans may wish that the population of Texas would stop expanding, the sad truth is that the population continues to grow. On average, about 55,000 to 60,000 people from around the U.S. and other countries resettle in the Lone Star State every month, according to Google AI.

Texas Growth Continues

People are moving to Texas for a number of reasons: no state income tax, lower cost of living, more affordable housing, job opportunities, outdoor recreation, family-friendly neighborhoods, and diverse industries are a few reasons.

Whatever their reason is for moving here, they're looking for a fantastic and safe place to live.

WalletHub recently released a study that reveals that five Texas cities are among the top 10 best real estate markets in the U.S. The nice thing about those five cities is that they're all within North Texas, and one of them is at the top of the list.

What WalletHub Studied

The study looked at seventeen indicators to compare 300 cities to create the ranking. Things like foreclosure rate, median days on the market, home value forecast, market attractiveness, economic strength, and median home price appreciation were taken into account for each housing market.

Texas Cities Dominate the Top 10

Once the numbers were run, WalletHub named McKinney, in Collin County, as the best real estate market in the country. Here's a look at the top 10 real estate markets:

1. McKinney, Texas
2. Cary, North Carolina
3. Irvine, California
4. Durham, North Carolina
5. Richardson, Texas
6. Frisco, Texas
7. Gilbert, Arizona
8. Nashville, Tennessee
9. Denton, Texas
10. Allen, Texas

For the curious, I looked at all 300 cities on the list; neither Tyler nor Longview appeared in this ranking. While McKinney came in at number one, it doesn't necessarily mean it's the cheapest city to live in. The factors lined up perfectly for this North Texas city.

So while not every Texas city made the cut, the Lone Star State still flexes its real estate muscle with five North Texas spots in the national top 10. Once again, Texans prove we don’t just live big — we buy big too.
