Health Alert Issued for Pizza Products Sold at Area Walmart Stores
A federal food safety alert could impact shoppers across the Texarkana area, including products sold at local Walmart Supercenters and Neighborhood Market stores.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) has issued a public health alert for certain meat and poultry products that may contain dairy ingredients linked to a possible Salmonella contamination.
These Products May Be in Local Stores and Homes Already
Officials say the affected items were distributed nationwide and could have been sold at both Texarkana Walmart Supercenters, as well as nearby Neighborhood Market locations in the region.
The issue stems from recalled dry milk powder used as an ingredient in a variety of ready-to-eat or prepared meat and poultry products. Additional products may be added to the alert as the investigation continues.
At this time, there have been no confirmed illnesses connected to the products.
What Consumers Should Watch For
Salmonella can cause symptoms including:
- Diarrhea
- Fever
- Stomach cramps
Symptoms typically begin within 6 hours but may take up to 6 days after exposure and can last up to a week. While most people recover without treatment, young children, older adults, and those with weakened immune systems face a higher risk of severe illness.
What You Should Do?
If you recently purchased meat or poultry products, especially items that may contain dairy ingredients, you are urged to:
- Check their refrigerators and freezers
- Avoid eating any questionable products
- Throw them away or return them to the store
Retailers have also been advised not to sell or serve affected products.
