Underrated Overlook in Arkansas Offers the Best Fall Scenic Views
There is something special about fall in Arkansas especially in the mountains as they wind and twist through peaks and valleys. There is one mountain you may not hear much about that might be the state's best scenic overlook on White Mountain.
White Mountain
Located in the beautiful Ozark National Forest at White Rock Mountain Campground and Recreation Area the drive to the top of the mountain is stunning during the peak fall season.
When you reach the summit there is a covered shelter overlook that offers hikers some of the most breathtaking views for miles.
For more incredible views take the more moderate White Rock West Trail. Keep in mind, that you should have a 4-wheel drive as some of the roads are dirt and you have to walk to the summit.
According to Arkansas.com White Rock Mountain offers a 13.4-mile loop trail south to Shores Lake and returns to intersect with the Ozark Highlands Trail.
Winslow
White Mountain near the small town of Winslow stands tall at 2, 260 feet above sea level, and during the fall season, the colors of the tree-covered mountainside will pop with every color and hue you can imagine.
According to Only In Arkansas, there are other spectacular overlooks in Arkansas like Yellow Rock Trail at Devil's Den Park or the internationally recognized and most-photographed-spot Hawksbill Crag but White Mountain may have one of the most underrated overlooks but one you will never forget.
If you are looking to make this a weekend getaway there are campgrounds for camping, cabins, and a lodge.
