Texarkana ISD Earns Fourth Consecutive “District of Distinction” for Visual Arts
Texarkana Independent School District (TISD) has for the 4th consecutive year been named as a District of Distinction by the Texas Art Education Association. They have earned this spot along with only 109 school districts across the state. They are all being recognized for their outstanding visual arts education.
A Mark of Consistent Excellence
TISD was one of 1,200 school districts in Texas that were eligible for the honor. Even more impressive is that only the top 8% met the required 14-point rubric, which is a set of criteria they must meet for the honor. And TISD has done this four years in a row.

Recognition from State Leaders
Nealy Holley, Chair of the Visual Art Administrators of Texas, a TAEA division, reflected on TISD's accomplishment in a press release saying,
TISD has set a high standard for visual arts advocacy, curriculum integration, and student engagement. This recognition reflects the incredible skill and commitment of your visual arts educators.
TISD Superintendent Dr. Doug Brubake said how proud he was of the continuing tradition of excellence in the arts the school district has accomphed. He also stated,
This award highlights the dedication of our Fine Arts staff and the creativity of our students.
Honoring Artistic Achievement
The Texarkana Independent School District along with the others will be recognized at the TAEA District of Distinction Awards Ceremony at the TAEA Fall Conference on Friday, November 21 in Round Rock, Texas.
