
Texarkana Teen Dies in Tragic Highway 8 Crash Over Holiday Weekend
A young man from Texarkana died in a tragic car crash just north of New Boston.
Details of the Tragic Collision
The Texas Department of Public Safety reported it happened around 2:13 PM on Thursday, July 3 on Highway 8. According to the Texarkana Gazette, the investigators say that a 2021 Dodge Charger was traveling south and crossed over the line into the northbound lane for unknown reasons. This is when it hit a 1999 Freightliner log truck.
The driver of the Doge, 19-year-old Kaden Allen of Texarkana, Texas, sadly died at the scene. His passenger, 19-year-old Lane Smith, also from Texarkana, declined medical treatment at the scene, and as far as we know, he is alright.
The driver of the log truck is 29-year-old Richie Delarosa from Mount Pleasant, Texas and he was not hurt.
Victims Identified and Investigation Underway
Sgt. Ethan Sartor with the DPS confirmed the details in a press release on Friday morning, stating that the crash is still under investigation. There is no word as of this writing on what caused Allen to veer into the other lane.
