Nevada County Depot Museum Launches $15K Match Campaign to Restore Arkansas Historic Depot

The Nevada County Depot Museum is seeking help to preserve one of Prescott’s most recognizable landmarks.

The museum has launched a fundraising campaign with a goal of raising $15,000 to support restoration work at the historic 1912 Missouri Pacific Depot on West 1st Street in downtown Prescott, Arkansas.

The project is part of the museum’s ongoing efforts to protect and preserve an important piece of Nevada County history.

Grant Award Provides Major Boost

The museum recently received a $30,000 grant from the Arkansas Historic Preservation Program to help repair and restore the depot’s original brick concourse and accessibility ramp.

Museum Director Jamie Simmons recently said in a press release,

We are so thrilled to have been awarded this grant. The AHPP is a vital program for historic preservation in Arkansas. We wouldn't be able to start this project without this assistance, but we still need a little help.

 

To receive the full grant funding, the museum must provide a matching contribution. So far, supporters have already donated $3,000 toward the effort.

Community Support Needed For Depot Museum in Prescott, Arkansas

The restoration will repair damage caused by winter ice earlier this year, improve safety and accessibility, and help preserve this historic depot for future generations.

Donations can be made online at The Depot Museum's restoration fund page or by mail. Community members can also support the project by sponsoring this year's Murder Mystery Dinner, with proceeds benefiting the restoration effort.
