If you live in Arkansas, there have been more minor earthquakes occurring lately. Just this week, on Tuesday, January 6, residents in Lawrence County, near Lynn, Arkansas, experienced a minor earthquake at approximately 5:24 PM.
Minor Earthquake Reported This Week in the Small Town of Lynn, Arkansas
Lynn, Arkansas, is located about 26 miles northeast of Batesville. According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the minor quake had a magnitude of 2.2, barely enough to move the needle but just enough to shake the ground and rattle some windows. No damage was reported.
According to Arkansas Radio, the quake struck at a shallow depth of 1.2 miles, and this activity comes on the heels of several clusters of small tremors in the same region lately, with several more recorded in December 2025.

The New Madrid Seismic Zone Has Become Very Active in Northeast Arkansas
Over the past several decades, this part of Arkansas has become a hotbed for minor earthquakes along the New Madrid fault line, which runs roughly 150 miles from Arkansas into Missouri and Illinois. This region in Northeast Arkansas remains a threat to a much more serious earthquake.
