It’s Back to School Time, Here’s When to Stop For Buses in Texarkana
It's almost time for kids to go back to school. School buses will be all over town again so it's the perfect time to get that little reminder that can save you big bucks. It's time to take a minute and remember when to stop for school buses.
It's all about keeping our kids safe. When you see a school bus loading or unloading kids you need to come to a complete stop. Luckily it's easy to spot these buses when they have kids getting on and off with most buses having a stop sign that swings out and flashing lights.
When Am I supposed to Stop School Buses?
It's easy to remember to stop for a school bus when we are driving behind one and it stops to let the kids on or off but what if the bus is on the other side of the road? What do we do on a road with more than one lane or a median?
Stopping For School Buses When There's a Median?
A great rule to follow is to stop for school buses every time it's parked on the side of the road with it's red lights flashing. But if the road is divided by a median or barrier that is unpaved, like a grassy median and the bus is on the opposite side of the road, then you don't have to stop. If the bus is on your side of the road, you need to stop.

The Miller County Sheriff's Department stated on their Facebook page the fine for first-time offenders is $635, and that most of the school buses now in Miller County have cameras to take a photo of your car and license plate.
