The Kiwanis Club of Texarkana has donated $5,131.35 to Beds for Kids, helping the local organization provide beds and other essential resources to children in need.

The money was raised during the 2026 Texas-Oklahoma Kiwanis District Convention, which was held in Texarkana in July. Funds came from the convention’s Silent Auction and SINGO fundraisers, along with support from community businesses and individuals.

Beds for Kids Has Provided More Than 1,000 Beds

Beds for Kids works with local agencies and community partners to identify children who do not have a safe or adequate place to sleep. Since the organization was founded in 2018, it has provided more than 1,000 beds to children in the Texarkana area.

Kiwanis Club of Texarkana President Destiny Carter said the donation would not have been possible without the generosity of the community.

“It is because of the generosity of our community partners who donated to our Silent Auction that we were able to raise these funds and support such a meaningful cause,” Carter said.

Barbara Walker, president-elect of the Kiwanis Club of Texarkana and chair of the 2026 Texas-Oklahoma District Convention, said Beds for Kids is a natural fit for the club’s mission.

“Beds for Kids represents exactly the kind of local impact Kiwanis is proud to support,” Walker said.

The Kiwanis Club thanked the businesses, organizations and individuals who donated auction items, participated in SINGO, volunteered and supported the convention.

Their contributions will help Beds for Kids continue providing beds and support to children and families throughout the Texarkana area.

Helping Local Kids Get a Good Night's Sleep

The donation will go toward Beds for Kids' ongoing efforts to make sure local children have a safe and comfortable place to sleep.
