Do you have a fireplace in your home or apartment? If so, is one of your favorite things to do all year starting a fire on Christmas morning and keeping it going until all the presents are open? Me too!

But there are problems with that scenario for some of us who live in Texas...

• Possibly No Fireplace
• The fireplace doesn't work
• Too hot to build a fire
• Ran out of firewood
• Never had any firewood
• Fear of Fire! (It's a thing for some)

Actually, the list of reasons to NOT have a fire can be pretty endless. So, is there an alternative that doesn't require fire-starting skills, or your basic "fear of fire"?
You betcha. Like many things we do these days, from chasing rabbits down endless holes to DIY projects and everything in between, just turn on YouTube.

A Little Family Fireplace History

We discovered this option a few years ago when looking for a Christmas fireplace fire when it was way too hot to build our own. When we searched, we discovered there were a bunch of YT channels that not only had the fireplace, but also had Christmas music with it. We put it up on the big screen, and it was instant Christmas ambiance without the excessive heat and fireplace cleanup.

Bonus: As soon as you're finished opening presents, you can switch to... whatever floats your boat. If more family is coming over later to do more presents, just fire it up again.

Technical Issue Warning

To make this work, you need to own a smart TV or a plugin adapter like Amazon Firestick, or Roku Streaming Stick, so you can tune into a YouTube.com channel. Which means you have to have Internet in your home as well. Or you can stream from your phone to your Smart TV if you have unlimited data. I don't recommend this method if you're on a limited data plan. If you're not sure how to make this work? Ask your kids.
