Campers Show Christmas Spirit at The Lake in Texarkana
Did you know campers have Christmas spirit too? My husband and I love to go camping at Lake Wright Patman's Rocky Point near Texarkana. That is where we headed this past weekend and the Christmas Spirit was alive and well throughout the campground.
Rocky Point Campground holds an annual competition with its campers around the second weekend of December. There were so many decked-out RVs and campsites with Christmas lights and decorations...it was truly a sight to see.
I have a little Christmas tree (pictured below) that a sweet friend gave me a couple of years ago. It belonged to her late mother and my friend felt our camper would be the perfect new home for it and it is.
I bring my Christmas tree when we go camping during the holiday season. But I had no idea what was in store at the campground this past weekend. Campers put out some great displays!
The park also put out decorations by the campground entrance and they also lit up some trees that are up by the pavilion, it was beautiful.
The park was open to the public for a few hours in the evening so that people could drive around and see all the lights and displays and Santa was there too!
The theme was Christmas and Water Safety. The winning camper would receive 2 free nights of camping.
There was something about the simplicity and laid-back feeling of camping while seeing all the Christmas displays touched my heart and I could feel the Christmas Spirit all weekend long.
I love what we did with the green lights on our camper and we didn't even know all this was going on!
I think my husband John and I just found a new camping tradition and it looks like we will need to step up our game for next year. Well Done Campers and Rocky Point!
