Main Culprits of E. coli Contamination
The main culprits are the Canadian Goose population, which feeds on the seed from bark trees near the water. Campers who feed the geese only make the situation worse, and the geese stay around longer.
The overpopulation of Feral Swine has also become a major problem in E. coli contamination, and at least 75 counties have been identified with an overpopulation of Feral Swine.
