Arkadephia Man Sentenced – 20 Years For Arkansas High Speed Chase
A local Arkadelphia, Arkansas, man will serve two decades in prison after leading Arkansas State Police on a dangerous high-speed pursuit last year.
On June 23, 2025, Christopher Trentell Penny, 29, of Arkadelphia, was sentenced to 20 years in the Arkansas Department of Corrections for felony fleeing in a vehicle causing danger. Clark County Circuit Court Judge Blake Batson handed down the sentence following Penny’s conviction.
The charges stem from an August 29, 2024, incident when a State Trooper attempted to stop Penny for a traffic violation on Interstate 30 eastbound near the 76-mile marker south of Caddo Valley. Penny initially pulled into a service station, but sped away as the Trooper exited his vehicle. (See above)

Penny re-entered I-30, reaching speeds over 130 miles per hour. According to police, he drove on the shoulder, weaved between vehicles, and forced multiple drivers off the road during the nine-mile pursuit.

The chase ended when the Trooper performed a Tactical Vehicle Intervention (TVI) maneuver to bring the suspect’s vehicle to a stop. Penny was taken into custody without injury and booked into the Clark County Detention Center. No one was hurt during the incident.
Ninth District Prosecuting Attorney Dan Turner emphasized the danger of fleeing from law enforcement and pledged to continue pursuing charges in similar cases. ASP Director Colonel Mike Hagar commended the prosecution and said the case reflects a broader effort to crack down on reckless flight from police.
