If you love the outdoors and protecting the beautiful state parks, lakes and wildlife in Texas, then this is for you. Applications are now open for the 67th Texas Game Warden and State Park Police Cadet class from the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department.

You could be a part of the next generation of this elite state law enforcement group.

As a Game Warden, you will not only be enforcing hunting and fishing regulations but you will also be a big part of Texas' emergency response and be trained in search and rescue and recovery operations on land air and water.

You will also host fishing events, hold hunter education classes and more

Chief Wes Masur, Director of State Park Police said in a press release,

For more than 50 years, State Park Police Officers have been entrusted with the responsibility of protecting the citizens of Texas and the nearly 10 million visitors that use our Texas State Parks each year. Our officers patrol and protect the most historically significant and important cultural and natural resources Texas has to offer. Our unique patrol areas include forests, lakes, rivers, beaches, mountains, deserts and even monuments.

 

TPWD is accepting applications through November 30. You must be at least 21 years old by the start date of the academy and have earned a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in any field of study by Jan. 1, 2024. You must also complete a physical readiness test, which includes handgun stability, a 2,000-meter row and a swim test. This is a 35-week program and all cadets will be required to live at the Game Warden Training Center near Hamilton when it begins on October 1, 2024.
