Forbes’ annual list of the highest-paid actors in Hollywood is out and once again, it is good to be the Rock.

From summer 2018 to summer 2019, the highest-paid actor (“based on data from Nielsen, ComScore, Box Office Mojo and IMDB, as well as interviews with industry insiders”) is Dwayne Johnson, who earned nearly $90 million over the last 12 months. That includes some $23.5 million upfront for the upcoming sequel Jumanji: The Next Level, along with a percentage of the grosses from the last Jumanji, and his fee for appearing in Ballers. Plus, there’s all his extracurricular activities like his clothing line, his water line, his shoe line, and so on. He is a Rock with his fingers in many pies. (I won’t say what kinds of pies, but if you used to watch WWF when The Rock was there, you know what he would say.)

Here’s Forbes’ top five list of the highest paid actors. (Go to their site for the full top ten, plus a more extensive breakdown of where the money came from):

  1. Dwayne Johnson - $89.4 million
  2. Chris Hemsworth - $76.4 million
  3. Robert Downey Jr. - $66 million
  4. Akshay Kumar - $65 million
  5. Jackie Chan - $58 million

It’s interesting that Hemsworth, who’s never been regarded as a star on the level of Downey within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, actually topped Downey in terms of earnings last year — although some of that is due to Hemsworth appearing in Men in Black International in addition to Avengers: Endgame; Downey did very little in the last two years besides his Avengers appearances. Meanwhile, Johnson has tons of projects coming up, including Jungle Cruise, a Black Adam movie, and a San Andreas sequel. Could he get to $100 million next year?
