Dillon Davis Named New Director of Bands for Redwater ISD
Coming to Redwater ISD as the Director of Bands, for the 2023-24 school year, is Dillon Davis, current Texas Middle School Head Band Director and Assistant Band Director for Texas High School.
According to a press release, Davis began his band leadership training with Redwater High School as Marching and Brass/Percussion Technician from 2007-2013. He student interned with Texarkana Arkansas School District in 2014 and then moved to Queen City ISD as Assistant Middle/High School Band Director and Director of Percussion from August 2014 to June 2015. From July 2015 through June 2020, Davis was the Assistant Middle/High School Band Director for Princeton ISD. He began work with Texarkana ISD as Director of Jazz Studies, Assistant Middle/High School Band Director in 2020, and in 2022 moved into his current position at Texas Middle School as Head Band Director and Assistant Band Director for Texas High School.
During his nine years in education, Davis has assisted and/or led his bands to a Bronze Medal in the UIL State Marching Band Championship, three (3) Sweepstakes Awards, Fifth Place in 5A Area C Finals, and several 1st Division Class 1 Percussion Ensemble awards.
“I’m excited about what Dillon will bring to the RISD Band Program,” said Dr. Kelly Burns, Superintendent of Schools.
“His strong organizational skills, patience, and enthusiasm for music are wonderful assets for him to motivate and inspire our student musicians.” Davis holds a Bachelor of Music Education from Henderson State University.
He plays trumpet with the Texarkana Jazz Orchestra and is currently a member of the Texas Music Educators Association, Texas Bandmasters Association, Texas Jazz Educators Association, National Trumpet Guild and a lifetime member of Kappa Kappa Psi, National Honorary Band Fraternity.
