Chloe x Halle See Massive YouTube Spike Following Halle Bailey’s ‘Little Mermaid’ Casting
Chloe x Halle have seen a significant spike in their music streaming and views after it was announced that Halle Bailey will play the role of Ariel in Disney's live-action remake of The Little Mermaid.
Chloe x Halle received a surge in views of their YouTube uploads to the new of Halle's starring role. According to a YouTube press release, the duo's "Pretty Hurts" cover received an increase in views by more than 6,000% on the day of the announcement (July 3), compared to their daily average for the rest of 2019.
The duo's overall catalog on YouTube spiked by over 600% since the big announcement. Both terms "Halle Bailey" and "Chloe x Halle" also peaked in Google search history. Their most popular single, "Happy Without Me," has now reached more than 20 million plays on Spotify.
Halle's IMDB page has also seen a significant increase in activity, with her account reaching No. 7 on the platform's Star Meter (an increase of 15,231 in rank this week).
The pair were discovered by Beyoncé after their cover of “Pretty Hurts" went viral when Beyoncé herself found the video and shared it on her social media accounts. The sister duo signed with Beyoncé's record label, Parkwood Entertainment, in 2015.
