A new season of Texarkana Twilight Tours begins Saturday, March 4, 2023, at Rose Hill Cemetery.

Join the Texarkana Museums System in celebrating Texarkana's Sesquicentennial by visiting with some of Texarkana's founders and pioneers. This guided tour includes living history performances at select grave sites.

According to a press release, Texarkana is commemorating its 150th anniversary this year and the Texarkana Museums System is celebrating with a visit to some of Texarkana’s original citizens. Rose Hill Cemetery, one of the first cemeteries established in Texarkana, is the final resting place of some of Texarkana’s pioneer settlers.

“The oldest marked grave dates to 1875, but we have documentation that the first burial occurred in Spring 1874, just a few months after Texarkana’s sale of city lots,” says TMS Curator, Jamie Simmons.

“That sale took place on December 8, 1873, and that is the date we are celebrating in 2023.”

If you look up Route 66 destinations, this is definitely one of them. As to your desire to stop and see it, that may be up to your religious beliefs, but as a Christian, it was a great destination for me. You might say, I most highly recommend it.
