Are you good at the grill? How about your steaks? It's time to get ready for a serious competition coming to Texarkana on Saturday, April 30. It's the Boomtown Border City Steak Cookoff.

This could be according to a press release the very first Steak Cookoff Association sanctioned competition to be held in Texarkana. What does this mean? It means this is serious. There will be competitors coming from all over the country to put their grilling talents to the test. There will also be a competition on Chicken Wings too. Over $3,000 in prizes will be awarded to the top best in each category and the cookoff is hosted by Dot's Ace Hardware and will take place outside the store located at 3411 Richmond Road in Texarkana.

Devin Jennings with Dot's Ace Hardware stated in an earlier press release;

This is the first SCA-sanctioned event to be held in Texarkana as far as we know. We are really excited to be partnering with Red River Beef Co, they are providing all of the steaks for the competition, and we think it’s going to be a really fun time.

What Does It Mean to be Sanctioned by the Steak Cookoff Association?

With this competition being sanctioned by the Steak cookoff Association, it means a lot!  According to a press release,

The SCA holds these events all across the county. Each competitor is scored by a point system at every qualifying cookoff. When those points rack up to a certain number winners can eventually advance to national and international events and competitions.

How Much Does it Cost to Enter?

Entering the Steaks category there is a fee of $160. If you want to enter the Chicken Wings category the fee is only $50. If you want to enter both categories the fee is $210. This event is free for the public to come and watch the competition.
