A couple of weeks ago I told you about a place in the Ozarks known as the Arkansas Grand Canyon, but did you know there is another place in southwest Arkansas known by the locals as "Little Grand Canyon?"
Little Grand Canyon
Little Grand Canyon is located between Prescott and Camden near White Oak Lake just off Highway 24. To get to this hidden gem in Arkansas turn onto Ouachita Couty Road 332 off of 24, look for a sign that says "White Oak Public Fishing Lake." Keep in mind that Little Grand Canyon is not on the same side of the lake as the White Oak Lake State Park and campground.
Once you see the Little Grand Canyon up close and personal you will be mesmerized but what looks like a miniature scaled-down version of the real Grand Canyon because of its unique rock formations and sandstone that gives off a white sandy hue.
The water that runs through the canyon appears to be a blue-green color and the best view is during the Spring when the canyon is flowing from recent rains.
Location
Little Grand Canyon is approximately 90 minutes from Texarkana via I-30 East.
For those who love to hike, there are hiking trails all around the area and even a swimming hole for those long summer months.
