Apple’s First TV Show is … An Unscripted Series About Apps With will.i.am
Just over a month ago, rumor swirled that Apple had in mind to enter the scripted series game with Dr. Dre’s Vital Signs, but it seems will.i.am beat him to it. A new report suggests Apple will launch an unscripted series looking at the world of apps, led by will.i.am.
Per The New York Times, the corporation will work with will.i.am and veteran TV executives Ben Silverman and Howard T. Owens to develop a new series spotlighting the app economy. For the moment at least, details are scant between its involvement with Apple’s own app store, or pesky things like a title, premiere window, format, or a general sense of how anyone will watch.
At least there’s a quote from Apple’s senior vice president of Internet software and services, Eddy Cue!
One of the things with the app store that was always great about it was the great ideas that people had to build things and create things … This doesn’t mean that we are going into a huge amount of movie production or TV production or anything like that.
Apple will otherwise continue to look at various music related programming, but no word on a scripted series just yet.
