Adele and her husband Simon Konecki have confirmed they split up in a statement from her publicist on Saturday (April 19).

"Adele and her partner have separated," her rep tells the Associated Press in a statement. "They are committed to raising their son together lovingly. As always they ask for privacy. There will be no further comment."

Adele and Konecki began dating in 2011 and welcomed their son Angelo in 2012. The couple then announced their marriage at one of Adele's concerts in Australia in 2017. It was speculated that the pair tied the knot in January of the same year, as they were both spotted wearing rings on their wedding fingers.

At a 2016 concert Adele told the crowd that she was hoping for a second child soon. “My son is about to turn four very, very soon,” she told the crowd. “I’m starting to get very emotional about it because I feel like once they turn four, they’re not really your actual baby anymore. So my womb is starting to ache a little bit. It’s like, ‘Baby, baby, baby. Need a baby, need a baby.’”

Though Adele and Konecki have kept their relationship private to a certain extent, he did make headlines in 2016 for surprising his wife. To celebrate their fifth anniversary as a couple he had handwritten notes as the confetti that fell down on the crowd and his wife. Some of the number of notes read, "Love you long time," "Happy anniversary," and "I love you."
