What happens when you travel 2,000 miles from Washington State to Crater of Diamond State Park in Murfreesboro, Arkansas with hopes of finding a diamond to be made into a special engagement ring?

 

You get lucky and find one on May 26, 2021. It took three days to find it but it was certainly worth the time and effort for 26-year-old Christian Liden of Poulsbo, Washington when he found a 2.2 yellow carat diamond the largest diamond found at the park since October of last year when a man from Fayetteville, Arkansas found a 4.49-carat yellow diamond, according to a press release from Crater of Diamonds State Park.

“I saw it shining as soon as I turned the screen over and immediately knew it was a diamond," said, Liden

The park averages 1-2 diamonds found per day. As of May 26, there have been 138 diamonds registered at Crater of Diamonds state park this year alone for a total combined weight of 20 carats.

The gem hunter who travels across the country searching for other gem stones plans on stopping in Nevada to mine for opals with the hope of finding one to go with his unique diamond to be designed into an engagement ring for his future bride. Sounds like a real romantic at heart too!

Crater of Diamond State Park is a 37.5-acre plowed field that is the world's eighth largest diamond-bearing volcanic crater. Murfreesboro is approximately 61 miles from Texarkana.
