Will we Have a Triple Crown Winner This Year?

The Kentucky Derby, the Preakness and now the Belmont Stakes. The horse named I'll Have Another is set to race this Saturday and possibly be our next Triple Crown Winner.

Horse racing is one of my favorite sports to watch. It was a tradition in my family to watch a race or two of the Triple Crown each year. We would throw a small wager, usually a dime, onto the family coffee table just before the race and pick our horse. I remember when Secretariat won in 1973. I also remember Seattle Slew taking the crown in 1977 and then Affirmed in 1978. It seemed like something that happened often. It has been 34 years since we experienced a triple crown winner.

NBC Sports Group will present 11 hours of Belmont-week coverage beginning Thursday, June 7 at 7:30 p.m. ET with I’ll Have Another – Charging Toward History. Then the Belmont Stakes will be Saturday at 5 p.m. ET on NBC.

I will be rooting for I'll Have Another this Saturday.
