Watch Out ‘Netflix’ ,’Redbox’ Takes Over ‘Blockbuster’ Kiosks

Looks like ‘Netflix’ better watch out. Redbox parent company Coinstar announced that they’d be purchasing NCR’s Blockbuster Express DVD rental kiosks for $100 million! For the moment, the Blockbuster Express Kiosk machines will remain blue, but soon enough they’re likely to turn red.
An NCR spokesman had to say about the deal:
“Once the deal is completed, NCR will have no need for the Blockbuster license. NCR will be out of the owner-operator business in entertainment.”
Between this deal and Coinstar/Redbox’s newly-reported fourth quarter revenue of $520.5 million,looks like this is the year ‘Redbox’ makes a serious run at ‘Netflix’ for the DVD rental market leader. Do you use ‘Netflix’ or ‘Redbox’ for your video rentals?
