Please watch and share these new dog videos, and there is also an adorable kitten video. There are so many wonderful pets that are going unseen by the people who could give them great homes.

The animal shelter in Texarkana has many animals that are on the adoption floor, available for people to see and even take for a walk. Each week we feature a pet of the week. While I was at the shelter on Monday, I took a few videos of some of the dogs that are new on the adoption floor and and made note of the ones that are still there waiting for someone to adopt them. There are so many others that are not included in these videos so please go to the shelter if you are interested in adopting a cat or dog.

Bonnie had her babies last week:

Our Pet of the Week Mikey is waiting for a new home.

Zeus is still on the adoption floor waiting to be adopted:

Here are some of the dogs that were at the shelter on the adoption floor as of Monday, May 16, 2016.

Update: This scruffy dog has been taken in by Passion for Pooches dog rescue. He has some skin issues but that hasn't changed the fact that this pooch wants love and affection.

Update: Django is still at the shelter waiting for someone to love him. This fun-loving boy gets closer and closer to walking the green mile every time a potential adopter walks the adoption floor at the shelter and passes him by. They have no idea what a great dog he is.

Read more about Django in his Pet of the Week story on our website.

The animal shelter in Texarkana has an adoption floor area were the public can see the dogs and cats that are available for adoption. They also have stray hold areas for the new arrivals and dogs that need to be held waiting for their owners to reclaim them. Check out my story that has videos of some of the strays. If you are missing a dog, it is always a good idea to check the animal shelter in Texarkana daily to make sure your missing animal hasn't been picked up by animal control or taken to the shelter.

The animal shelter in Texarkana, Ark., often face issues of having enough space for all of the animals coming in. In recent weeks, the shelter was full and had to put animals to sleep to make room for all of the new owner surrenders and strays coming in daily. It is not fair to the dogs so we must get their faces out so people can adopt these babies before it is too late.

Some of these dogs were waiting for their owners to find them but they didn't so know they are on the adoption floor. There are not nearly enough adoptions occurring daily to make room on the adoption floor for all of the dogs that are available to be moved up. What options do they have? If you see a dog that you would like to foster, find a rescue group to pull the dog. Check here for a list of the rescues. Other options for helping these dogs is to share this video on your social media pages so others will see them.

You can sponsor a dog, which means you will pay the fee to have the dog fixed and get a rabies vaccination. Once that is done, the adoption fee will only be $40, which makes it much easier to get a dog adopted from the shelter. The Animal Care and Adoption Center in Texarkana, Ark., is our only animal shelter in town. They have a few hundred dogs and cats that need to be reclaimed or adopted. Room is always an issue at a city animal shelter. We feature an animal each week to help get the word out about many of these great pets.

Many dogs and cats are euthanized every week in our local shelter. It is up to the community to prevent it. Spay and neuter your pets. Volunteer to help educate citizens about the need to fix their animals. Share this post on your Facebook page and Tweet about it, too.

The shelter's adoption fees range from $40 to $144, depending on the gender and size of the animal or whether they have been spayed or neutered yet. You can also have your pet microchipped for only $20 right at the shelter. That way if your pet is ever lost, he or she can be returned to you quickly.

The Animal Care and Adoption Center is located at 203 Harrison St., Texarkana, Ark. 71854 and is open Monday through Friday from 11AM and 5PM and Saturdays from 11AM to 2PM. Also, visit the shelter's Facebook page.
