One of my favorite events of the year is coming up in the Ark-La-Tex! The Barksdale Air Force Base Air Show is set for May 2 through May 3, and has fast become one of the premiere air shows in the area. Not only does it get to showcase the home of the B-52,  but it serves to enhance the public awareness of Air Force preparedness. It's also the only time that civilians are granted  access to tour the military installation, view military and aerobatic performers, and support the recruiting arm of our armed forces. This historical event first took place in 1933 at Barksdale and it gives aviation enthusiasts a chance to experience historical aircraft on display and the latest state-of-the-art jets and inventions.

This year see high flying performances from the world famous U.S. Navy Blue Angels, the Championship skydiving team Golden Knights, flyovers from a MiG-17, Quick Silver P-51,  B-52, and an the A-268 Invader "Lady Liberty." Witness aerobatic aerial displays from Rob Holland, Micheal Gouliam, Jeremy Holt, Kevin Coleman, Dave Leedom, and an appearance from Shockwave the world's fastest jet semi truck and many more.

Best of all, admission to the 2015 Barksdale Air Force Air Show is FREE. Parking is also free. On-base parking will be made available for visitors entering the North (Bossier) and West (Shreveport) gates. All vehicles will be directed to the flight line parking area. Courtesy Bus Transportation will also be available from Bossier Parish Community College to minimize traffic congestion on and off the base. Although intervals are not finalized, the buses will run on a continuous route to and from the show.

Gates open at 9 a.m. each day with the show starting at 11 a.m.  All static displays will be accessible and the dynamic displays will be the same as well. (See complete schedule)

Security Advisory: No weapons are allowed. Backpacks, large purses and coolers will be prohibited on the airfield. Food and drinks will be available for purchase at the air show. As there are very few shaded areas, sunscreen is highly recommended.
