Two Events Planned for Downtown Texarkana
The Texarkana Arts & Historic District, the City of Texarkana, Texas and the Texarkana Chamber of Commerce, will host a ribbon cutting and grand opening for the restored Scott Joplin Mural on Main Street next week.
The city, along with the Texarkana Regional Arts & Humanities Council (TRAHC) will hold an 11AM ribbon cutting and would like to invite the public to an open house to discuss future development of the Perot Theatre Restoration and Art Park project in downtown Texarkana. The open house will be held Tuesday, October 27 from 11:30AM – 1PM and 5PM – 6PM at TRAHC’s Regional Arts building.
The City of Texarkana, Texas is one of 69 recipients of the National Endowment for the Arts Our Town awards throughout the United States and will receive $100,000 to support the Texarkana Perot Theatre Restoration and Art Park Project.
The Perot Theatre Restoration and Art Park project in Texarkana, Texas engages leading design experts in development of a master plan for the downtown Texarkana Arts and Historic District. The master plan features adaptive re-use of a downtown block connecting the restored Perot Theater and the historic Regional Arts Building with an open air farmers market, outdoor stage, public art exhibition and green space. A public space master plan incorporating the surrounding blocks offers an excellent opportunity to improve.
