Are you a fan of springing forward by one hour every year only to turn back time eight months later? This past weekend we changed time yet again, depriving our bodies of sleep and forcing all of our internal schedules into an alteration that can take weeks to recover from. Did you know there is a movement to stop the madness? Where do I sign up?!

'Daylight Saving Time' is what it is called when we jump forward by one hour. And just so you know, according to Time and Date online, "Daylight saving time is often incorrectly referred to as “daylight savings time”. When DST is not observed, it is called standard time, normal time or winter time." Oops, I think I may have been guilty of adding that 's' that doesn't belong.

Why exactly do we turn the clock back anyway? Sure, we get to sleep in a bit in the Fall so we don't feel too groggy on that part of the time change but it gets dark way to early for me. Then in the Spring we bounce forward an hour and walk around like zombies for weeks until we can adjust. Why can't we just set the clocks to one time and stay with it all throughout the year? I would be a fan of 'Standard Time' all of the time.

As it stands, on March 8, 2015 we kicked in the Daylight Saving Time which ends this year on November 1, unless you live in "Hawaii, most of Arizona, Midway Atoll, Wake Island, small region of Alaska," according to Time and Date online. When we will fall back one hour in November there goes our daylight again! When we get home in the evenings it will be almost dark. Scientists have found that turning the clocks back is a waste of time and bad for your health. It takes away time for outdoor activities that help people stay healthy. The extra daylight helps people produce more natural vitamin D, which is created when the body is exposed to the sun.

I think we should leave the clock alone. What do you think?
