Texarkana emergency crews were busy overnight after two trains collided in the downtown area of the Texas side of town.

Two trains have collided in downtown Texarkana, Texas derailing one locomotive, pushing four cars off the tracks and causing no major injuries. The two trains collided near the rail yard in Texarkana, Texas around the viaduct and Phenie Street at approximately 12:40AM on Tuesday, September 8, 2015.

The train that was derailed was carrying auto parts and automobiles and is now laying on its side off the tracks. No hazardous materials were involved in the collision.

According to Fire Chief Eric Schlotter, the driver-engineer of one Union Pacific train was treated for minor injuries and released at the scene by emergency personnel.

AEP-SWEPCO is on location repairing power poles that were damaged and torn down during the crash. There are no traffic implications expected for Tuesday morning.

The investigation into the accident is ongoing at this time.
