TRAHC’s African-American Committee will present 'Athletes Who Changed Sports and the World'.The display will feature biographical informational panels about regional African-American athletes and their contributions to the sports world and how they affected their communities overall.

The exhibit is not so much focused on the athlete’s statistics, but on the athlete’s contributions to society after the ball games were over. The real component is the artwork created by the Texarkana Arts and Humanities Council committee members using the athletes tools of their trades.

Athletes hail from baseball, basketball, boxing, football, gymnastics, golf, ice skating, tennis, track and field, soccer and wrestling.

Part of the exhibit is a local honor role. It includes Willie Davis, Rod Smith, Billy Sims, Antonio Burks, Ernest Rhone and more. On Saturday, Feb. 14, a reception was held with Rhone as a celebrity guest.

This exhibit will be located in the Regional Arts Center and is free to the public.
