Townsquare Media

As Americans try to wrap their minds around the heinous shootings at the Century Cinema in Aurora, Colorado, we at Townsquare Media are also left wondering why it happened and what can be done to prevent this type of tragedy in the future. While there are no easy answers, we want to extend our support to the survivors and share what our staff has to say about the act of violence that resulted in so many senseless deaths.

“Thoughts and prayers go out to the victim’s families. How horrible to expect a fun night at the movies and have it turn into this, because of one sick person. So Sad!”

Mitzi Dowd

Director of Sales

“My first reaction was to pray for the families that lost someone at the hands of such a monster, and that ones injured would heal. This is so tragic in so many ways, it is hard to comprehend how someone could do such a thing. It scares me as an individual, wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend that such senseless and horrible acts can be any moment away. The news story made mention that there were still a few of the bodies inside the theater, I cannot imagine the anguish those families must be experiencing! Our country and everyone in it, and I mean everyone, need our prayers. Prayers for those experiencing loss – for strength – peace and forgiveness, and those poor souls considering something like this, that something miraculous might happen in their life so this never happens in the first place.”

“I was in utter shock this morning as I heard news of this senseless shooting at a Colorado movie theater. My heart and prayers goes out to all the people of whom lost there lives; as well as to many others who survived through such a hate filled tragedy.”

Jeff Easterling

DJ & KYGL Brand Manager

“Horrified… thought about my children at a late night premiere type thing… there is no excuse or reason for evil like that. Then I thought of all of the people who are angry about guns. I think the best defense against bad people with guns, is good people with guns. I’ve prayed on it, and I hate it for all of the families and friends of the ones killed or wounded.”

Jim Weaver

Production Director & DJ, KMJI

“What a tragedy, my heart goes out to the families and friends of the dead and wounded in this senseless act of violence. From what I hear, that company has signs stating that it does not allow lawful concealed carry in their place of business. Maybe someone in that company might want to think about what that sign says to a nutjob who wants to kill as many people as he can at one time; It simply screams “no one here is going to shoot back.” We will never know how many could have been saved.”

Betty Garrett

Receptionist

“My thoughts and prayers go out to all the families. But what kind of sick maniac would do something so evil, and on top of that he thinks he's a joker. Ha!!! Wow, what some weirdos we have in this world.”

Kendra Raines

DJ

“I will never understand what would make someone take another life. My heart hurts for all those involved. I have not been able to stop thinking about it all day. For the first time in 5 years, I had a hard time doing my show. I wanted to talk just talk about it on every break.”

Lisa Lindsey

DJ

It is impossible to comprehend why someone would do this. My heart is breaking for the victims and their families and friends.

Tragic that so many people lost their lives and were injured while trying to enjoy entertainment. Horrible that something like this would happen and strike fear in everyone every time you they step foot into a movie theater. Shows us as humans that we do need each other for support and that it's not always one choice that defines someone's life but a series of bad choices that lead us down a path of good or a path of evil.

Such rage can only come from loss of hope. I pray for strength, and hope for the victims and families. But, most of all, I pray for hope for our country as incidents like this become all to frequent.
