The Texarkana Independent School District will hold a "Zone Talk" community meeting Thursday at Nash Elementary School at 6pm.

With the new elementary school on Gibson Lane scheduled to open in August of this year, the school district feels that it is important for the TISD community and parents to give their input as they look at realigning the TISD Elementary Attendance Zone map. One of the current options being reviewed is to include all areas of the current TISD school zone that is north of I-30. The TISD Board of Trustees will approve the final zoned area during their February or March regular session. Applications for school enrollment will start being accepted in April.

The new campus will be located on 15 acres off Gibson Lane near the southwest corner of the Encore Waggoner Creek Apartment Homes. With a total of 67,800 square feet, the school is expected to serve approximately 400 students in Pre-Kindergarten through Fifth Grade and will feature a pod design for extended learning spaces. Included in the design are: 22 classrooms, Research & Design Center/Library, Media Center, Art Room, Gymnasium, Cafeteria and Kitchen. The facility has been designed and positioned for add-on space for future enrollment growth, above the 400 capacity.
