Bad news and bad timing for The Wanted: Member Nathan Sykes is taking a break from the group because he has to undergo throat surgery to fix his vocal problems.

a rep for the band says, "We can confirm that The Wanted's Nathan Sykes will undergo specialist throat surgery on Thursday 18th April in Los Angeles and as such will be taking unforeseen hiatus form The Wanted. "

Added the rep, "The priority for Nathan, his label and management is that he is given time to recover and receive the best treatment possible. The remaining four members of The Wanted will continue fulfilling the bands promotional commitments across the world."

A post on the group's Facebook page reads: "Our lil Nath has to go in for an operation on his throat, on his birthday to make him better. So please join us in wishing our brother and our friend well. Get well soon Nath, we love ya!"

On Twitter, Nathan wrote that he was "gutted"  that's British for "devastated"  bv the news.  It comes at a bad time for the group, who are gearing up for a new album, a tour, and the debut of their E! reality show The Wanted Life.

There were reports that Nathan is suffering from a vocal cord hemorrhage, which is the same problem that Adele had with her voice last year.
