In numerous interviews over the past year or so, Robin Thicke and his wife Paula Patton have spoken in detail about their strong marriage, even dishing about their sex life.  Well, it turns out that even the best Hollywood unions can go south: the couple has announced their separation.

Reps for both Thicke and Patton confirm to various sources that the couple have split. Patton says, "We will always love each other and be best friends, however, we have mutually decided to separate at this time."

The singer and the actress first met when Thicke was just 14 years old.  They've been married since 2005, and had a son, Julian Fuego Thicke, in April of 2010.

Over the past year, Thicke has been the subject of a number of rumors regarding alleged inappropriate behavior with other women.  There was also much speculation about whether or not Patton minded that her husband was surrounded by topless models in his video for "Blurred Lines"; she always denied that it bothered her.

In the November issue of Elle magazine, Thicke was asked how he and Patton keep the "spice" in their marriage.  He replied, "The spice is not our problem. We’re over-spiced. We could probably take a few spices off the shelf."  When asked if the couple listens to Robin's music in the bedroom, he admits, "Yes. In fact, she likes to do it more than ever now. Sometimes she’ll even play groupie for me."
