The Texarkana, Texas City Council meets tonight to discuss several policing items. One of those involves body cameras.The council will decide whether to allow some $10,000 to be added to the police budget for the purpose of using the donation funds to purchase body cameras for patrol officers.

City leaders will also consider creating the rank of Assistant Chief of Police, by approving and authorizing the reclassification of two non-tested police captain's positions, to two Assistant Chief of Police positions. They would also eliminate pay for the police department's chief of staff.

The council will also discuss and upcoming ADA Fishing Derby to be held at Spring Lake Park later this month.

The public is invited to attend the open portion of tonight's meeting that gets under way at 6 p.m. at City Hall.
