You may not have to travel out of state to find interesting places to visit for 2014.Beginning with its spring 2014 edition available Feb. 1, the free, quarterly Texas Highways Events Calendar debuts a bold, new redesign offering travelers more event information than ever in an easy-to-read format.

Available in print and online, the new Texas Highways Events Calendar is the result of a survey polling readers and event promoters about the kinds of new features they would like to see. Thanks to their input, the new calendar will feature more photos, event spotlights and a new format that helps travelers find events based on their destinations and travel dates.

From small-town festivals to big-name concerts, the spring calendar features more than 1,000 ideas for things to do across Texas in March, April and May. Highlights include Hidalgo's Borderfest in March, the Chappell Hill Bluebonnet Festival in April and the Texas Crab Festival in Crystal Beach in May.

For a free subscription to the quarterly Texas Highways Events Calendar, submit a mailing address via the form found at www.texashighways.com/EventsCalendarSubscription. Eco-friendly, digital PDF subscriptions can be requested by sending an e-mail to texasevents@txdot.gov with "I want to subscribe" in the subject line. Event listings also are available online at www.texashighways.com.

The Texas Highways Event Calendar is a product of Texas Highways magazine, which was redesigned in September to commemorate its 40th anniversary in 2014.
