The Texarkana Texas Police Department was on their way to serve a warrant with the U.S. Marshals when they saw the suspect on Stateline Avenue. They fired shots at the suspects car to try to disable it.

Police and U.S. Marshals were going to serve a warrant on Eric J. Phillips when they saw him on Stateline Avenue. The officers attempted to stop him at Whataburger while he was in the drive-thru. The suspect allegedly attempted to strike the officers with his car and they fired shots in an attempt to disable the vehicle according to a police spokesperson.

Phillips was able to drive down Stateline a little way before exiting his vehicle and running. He was apprehended by Texarkana Arkansas Police near the Arkansas side Super Walmart store.

Texarkana, Arkansas and Texas Police joined together to capture a fugitive from Hurst, Texas that had been hiding in a local hotel in Texarkana, Texas.

On June 10th, 2014, Texarkana Arkansas and Texas Police departments, and an investigator from the Bowie County District Attorney’s Office were advised that a felony fugitive, Eric Phillips, W/M 36yoa, of Bedford, Texas was staying in a hotel on N. Stateline Avenue.  Phillips had outstanding felony warrants for; Aggravated Kidnapping-Deadly Weapon, Aggravated Assault of a Public Servant, Evading Arrest/Detention-Vehicle, Unlawful Use of A Motor Vehicle) out of Hurst, Texas. On todays’ date at approximately 1:00pm Officers observed Phillips driving into a local business in the 4200 block of N. Stateline Avenue.  Officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop on Phillips and arrest him.   At that time Phillips attempted to evade Officers while striking several vehicles in the process causing a serious danger to the public and the officers attempting to arrest him.  TTPD Officers fired shots into Phillips vehicle in order to disable the suspect’s from driving and causing further immident danger to the officers and public.

At which time Phillips exited the vehicle and fled on foot.  Phillips was captured and arrested by TAPD Officers in the Walmart parking lot.  Phillips was arrested for the previously listed warrants and transported to the Bi-State Justice building.  Charges for TAPD and TTPD are pending.
