Texarkana, Texas Police are warning area citizens about one of the latest scams to hit the area. Like all scams, this one is another attempt to steal your money.Texas side police were contacted yesterday by people who received text messages threatening their arrest if they failed to contact an unnamed law enforcement agency. Law enforcement agencies do not typically communicate their intent to arrest a person in this manner.

These types of contacts normally result in the offending party demanding financial information or payment in the form of wire transfers or money orders, police said. Legitimate communications of this type are usually conducted in person or through certified mail.

You should never provide anyone with your personal information like bank accounts, pin numbers, Social Security numbers or transfer money to people you don't know.

If you are contacted in this manner, do not respond to these scammers. However you should contact immediately contact your nearest police department.
