Texarkana College is among top colleges and universities nationwide to embrace the use of open source textbooks to help offset the rising costs associated with earning a degree.By aligning with OpenStax College, the Rice University-based publisher, certain Texarkana College faculty members will save students up to $400 per course by adopting free, on-line textbooks as their preferred source of curriculum materials for their courses.

Dr. Catherine Howard, division chair for Texarkana College's math and science division, is an advocate of the new philosophy of content delivery.

This new way of obtaining curriculum material will eventually save students a lot of money compared to purchasing printed traditional textbooks.
