The Texarkana, Arkansas Police Department is once again this year getting involved to bring Christmas joy to children in the city.

First, on Tuesday December 6 the Shop with a Cop event will take place. During this event a child will be given $100 to shop for Christmas gifts with a police officer at Wal-Mart on Arkansas Boulevard. Officers from all over Texarkana will line up at the Bi-State Justice Center at 8:30AM and convoy with lights and sirens to Wal-Mart. This year, with the continuous support of local contributors, almost 100 children in need in Texarkana will receive something special this holiday season.

The second event is the annual Cops and Kids meal, which is happening this Thursday December 8 at the Four States Fairgrounds. Police officers of the Arkansas side police will meet at the Bi-State at 5:00PM. The officers will form two convoys, one parade formation will head to the Texarkana Baptist Orphanage, and the other will travel to Water Springs Ranch. The children at both locations will get to ride with a police officer in a patrol care, with lights and sirens to the Four States Fairgrounds. There the officers and children will enjoy a time of fellowship and food.

The Annual Shop with a Cop, and Cops and Kids Program is meant to be a spirit of fellowship that takes place during the holiday season and reinforces the positive aspects of community and police partnerships. This year the Texarkana Arkansas Police Department anticipates providing around 140 children of our community something special for this Christmas season.
