The Texarkana, Arkansas Police Department has announced their upcoming 2nd annual Citizen Police Academy starting January 24.

The Citizen Police Academy is an eight-week program designed to give the public a working knowledge of the Texarkana, Arkansas Police Department. Each session consists of weekly classes that will meet at the Texarkana Arkansas Police Headquarters. The instruction is comprehensive; each week different units within the department are covered.

Class B is scheduled to begin on Tuesday, January 24 at the Texarkana Arkansas Police Department Training Room, located in the Bi-State Justice Building, at 100 North State Line Avenue.

Evening classes are from 5:30PM to 8:00PM. The graduation ceremony will be on Tuesday, March 21.

  • Emergency Communications
  • Response to Resistance
  • Crisis Intervention
  • Critical Incidents
  • Forensics
  • Organize Crime Division
  • Human Trafficking
  • K-9
  • S.W.A.T
  • Burglary
  • Robbery
  • Homicide
  • Cold Case
  • Highway Enforcement/DWI

The goal is to educate the public about the Texarkana Arkansas Police Department and to increase the rapport between citizens and police officers.

They hope the graduates of the Citizen Police Academy become more aware and better informed about how the Police Department operates, and will encourage friends, coworkers and families to join the Texarkana Arkansas Police Department in this rewarding program.

Anyone who is an Arkansas resident, business owner, or works in Arkansas can attend.   Applications are currently being accepted. The deadline to apply if Friday, January 6. Applications are available at the Texarkana Arkansas Police Administration Office, or at the Central Records and Communications window, both located on the 3rd floor of the Bi-State Justice Center.
