We had a lot of great suggestions of names for the new pet crawfish. We have narrowed it down to five names and now we need your votes to decide on the final name.

This is my new pet crawfish! I hate naming pets so please help me give him a name. He is friendly, well, kind of friendly. He is very active and likes to swim. I don't know if he is good on a leash or not. He has lots of pinchers.

Bring on the bugs! Expect to see crawfish season to hit Texarkana sooner than normal. Warmer weather and good amounts of rain have a lot to do with it. Crawfish should be plentiful this year and arrive earlier than normal.

Another crawfish stand has opened in Texarkana! Hot Tails Crawfish, J3 Crawfish Shack, Twisted Tails Mudbugs and The Crawfish Shack are now open. The price per pound is down a bit this week and should be in the $6.50 range for boiled at most of the huts, give or take a quarter. The price will continue to drop the further into the season we go.

The second annual Mardi Gras Celebration is happening in Texarkana on Sat., March 1, from 2pm to 7pm. There will be three parades, concessions and food vendors, activities for the entire family, contests, music and adult beverages too. This year's theme is Super Heroes & Marvels.
