Columbia Pictures Last week, news broke that Fox would be adapting its sorta-but-not-really popular Behind Enemy Lines movie series for television, and countless people  —  myself included  —  wondered aloud if Hollywood needed to cool it with the small screen adaptations of middling action movies. Not to be outdone, CBS announced today that it would be moving forward with a similar adaptation, this time bringing the sorta-but-not-really 2003 movie S.W.A.T. to television.

Star Trek fans have waited years for the franchise to return to TV, and will wait longer still, it seems. Despite CBS initially scheduling the new Discovery series for a January 2017 bow, the newest Star Trek saga has been pushed back to May over production demands.

There’s no one measure of Majel Barrett’s contribution to Star Trek, whether Nurse Chapel, Lwaxana Troi or the omnipresence of computer voices in later seasons, but Star Trek: Discovery may pay more tribute to Barrett than its “Number One” lead. According to reports, Barrett’s digitized voice may also feature into the new series as well.

Excited though Star Trek fans are to finally have the franchise back on TV with Bryan Fuller’s Discovery, many had to wonder why the series opted to follow the prequel route yet again. The series will venture early into Trek history with a pre-Kirk setting, something writer Nicholas Meyer says offers more “room to maneuver.”

We still don’t have the clearest picture of what CBS’ Star Trek: Discovery will look like (at least we can watch it without ads!), but it seems we’ll have a whole lot more than the series itself to enjoy, come January. New announcements reveal Discovery will launch tie-in comics and novels, maintaining strict continuity with the series itself.

CBS’ proposed young MacGyver reboot has ben raising eyebrows for a few months now, ordered to series despite a near-total discard of the original pilot, but at least some good news is in order. Not only is Furious 7 and The Conjuring director James Wan back in to helm the pilot, but so too have new details of the revamped story arrived.

Just take a moment to really soak in that headline. CBS, a major network in the United States, reportedly passed on a new Nancy Drew series because it was “too female.” Wow. In a country where women make up 51 percent of the population, it would just be totally crazy to green light a show about us. Thankfully, the contemporary update on the classic detective character is being shopped elsewhere, so hopefully they’ll find another network that doesn’t cringe at the thought of all this lady stuff.

If yesterday seemed abnormally bright, it might have had something to do with the adorable first photos of Supergirl and The Flash crossing over for the former’s March 28 “Worlds Finest.” You just knew there had to be a race as well, the first footage of which arrives in a new crossover tease!

Star Trek’s rebooted cinematic tenure under J.J. Abrams has led to diminishing returns, Star Trek 3 just barely making it off the ground, leading many to wonder when Gene Roddenberry’s iconic franchise might return to its TV roots. That time may already be upon us, CBS is reportedly looking to boldly go forward with a new TV Star Trek.

Among the last, but certainly not least, the eye network CBS has officially gotten in on the Upfront 2014 game by releasing their schedule for the fall, and full trailers for the newest series. While this past week's 'How I Met Your Mother' landmark "Slapsgiving" installment saw the series getting into a bit of insensitivity trouble, the long-running CBS comedy will bounce back in a big way with the coming 200th installment "How Your Mother Met Me," including some major mythology reveals for the story, and plenty of surprises in the weeks to come!
