This little black and tan dog has been wandering around the walking trail next to St. Michael Healthcare Center's parking lot for several weeks. She is afraid and untrusting. Many people have tried to catch her with no luck. She eats well for sure because tons of people are feeding her three and four times a day.

Friends called me in a panic at least once a week. They told me when they drove by they thought she was dead or dying because she was laid out flat and she could barely raise her head. She was sleeping. Probably a "full belly" coma. She ate hamburgers, french fries, dog treats and food of all types. There were so many people feeding her that she must have thought the walking trail was her home.

People tried using another dog to lure her in. She enjoyed having a playmate but wouldn't let a human get close until yesterday. The step-daughter of a friend of mine took her dog by and while the two dogs were playing, she was able to slip a leash around the stray's neck. The stray dog fought and flopped around for a few minutes but then laid down. They loaded her up in a car to have her in a safe place while they figure out what to do next. So many people were trying to catch her but who wanted to adopt her?

A couple who was very involved in the daily attempts to catch this dog quickly stepped forward to give this sweet and frightened dog a forever home. The dog's name is now Lady. I will follow up with photos as soon as they send some happy tails pics.
